Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Eddie Joseph Fontenot Sr., 78, who died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at his residence. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Keith Landry officiating the services.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Grace Bourque Fontenot of Kaplan; four sons, Randy Fontenot and his wife, Ramona of Magnolia, Texas, Eddie Fontenot Jr. and his wife, Cathy of Forked Island, Anthony "Fuzz" Fontenot and his wife, Kathy of Kaplan, and Jody Fontenot and his wife, Heather of Abbeville; one sister, Amy Gaspard of Forked Island; three brothers, Odeon Fontenot Jr. of Kaplan, Doris Fontenot of Lafayette, and John Landry of Gueydan; ten grandchildren, Louis Fontenot, Jessica Fontenot, Matthew Fontenot, Lydanna Fontenot, Christy Bourque, Melissa Fontenot, Tiffany Fontenot, Constance Villejoin, Morgan Fontenot, and Hunter Fontenot; and two great grandchildren, Christian Bourque and Caden Campbell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Odeon Fontenot Sr. and the former Ida Primeaux; one brother, Howard Fontenot; and five sisters, Orelien Trahan, Amelia LeBlanc, Agnes Hargrave, Azelie LeMaire, and Laurice Gaspard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, June 20, 2012 from 9 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
