Alonzo Jasper 'Aj' Thomas

He will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Deacon Randy Hyde officiating the services.
A.J. was one of Abbeville's first entrepreneurs. Among his many ventures he is mostly remembered as the owner/operator of the Heritage Inn Motel/Restaurant/Lounge in Abbeville.
He is survived by his son, Duane Thomas of Abbeville; and daughter, Tamara T. Suire and her husband, Greg of Erath; and his good friend and sitter, Rita Hebert.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Baudoin Thomas; parents, A.J. Thomas and the former Elida Broussard; twin sister, Elida T. Caillot; and sisters, Elaine T. Caldwell, Frances P. Thomas, Minnie T. Delahoussaye and Marjorie Villien.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, March 14, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ronald Lahasky, Eastridge Assisted Living, Eastridge Nursing Center and Hospice of Acadiana for their compassion and gentle care they gave not only to our father but to all the family.
