Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 8, 2013 at a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anne Catholic Church honoring the life of Olite Marie Gaspard, 80, who died Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Vermilion Health Care Center. She will be laid to rest at Suire Cemetery with Reverend Keith Landry officiating the services.

She is survived by one daughter, Jo Ann Hargrave Mire and companion, Cleus Gallet of Kaplan; four sisters, Ruby Hargrave, Rena Leonard, Celestine McDaniel, and Velma Frederick, all of Forked Island; two brothers, William and Pervis Gaspard, both of Kaplan; seven grandchildren, Darwin LaPointe of Jeanerette, Shantell LaPointe of Patterson, Chad LaPointe of Erath, Brent LaPointe of Kaplan, Christina Trahan of Abbeville, Brandi Cashat of Missouri, and Lolita Mire of Anacoco; fifteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Geneva LaPointe; parents, Edgar and Lillie Touchet Gaspard; one grandchild, Lynn LaPointe Farris; two brothers, Edgar Gaspard Jr. and Edward Gaspard; and four sisters, Geneva Gaspard, Marie Gaspard, Evelia Leonard, and Gurdy Suire.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 6 p.m.; Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
