Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013 at a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of Hazel Marie Cessac Vollmer, 86, of Abbeville, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Pelican Pointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Maurice, Louisiana after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s.
She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services. Pallbearers will be James Theall, Don Vollmer, Percy Vollmer, Jr., Dan Vollmer, Derek Vollmer and Eliot Vollmer.
Hazel was born on August 7, 1927 to Terrance and Lezima Cessac and grew up in Esther, LA. She attended Abbeville High School, graduated in 1945 and was married to Lawrence Edward Vollmer for 55 years. She was an exceptional homemaker, loved to cook for friends and relatives, and also worked as the Manager of Stop & Shop BBQ in Abbeville. Hazel lived a very active life and in her golden years, spent much time perfecting her flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Vollmer; father, Terrance Cessac; and mother, Lezima Cormier Cessac.
Hazel will be deeply missed by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Linda Frederick Vollmer of Maurice, Larry and Catherine Wainwright Vollmer of Kingwood, TX, and David and Kim Knight Vollmer of Sulphur; her nine grandchildren, Dan, Denise, Derek, Kristen, Jennifer, Eliot, Brittany, Michaela and Katelyn; and six great grandchildren.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, December 21, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
