Maurice—Memorial services will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Ronald Lee Broussard, 76, who died Friday, August 15, 2014 at Pelican Pointe Healthcare & Rehabilitation.
He will be laid to rest at St. Alphonsus Cemetery with Reverend Joseph Breaux officiating the services.
Ronald was born in Kaplan, LA on November 1, 1937. He graduated from Kaplan High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor’s of Education from SLI (ULL). He worked as a teacher and coach for 32 years at various schools in Vermilion and Lafayette Parishes, earning the honor of Louisiana Basketball Coach of the Year in 1984. He also served in the National Guard for several years. He touched so many people around the world and will truly be missed.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gloria A. Touchet. He is also survived by his brother James C. Broussard, sister, Sister Mary Ann Broussard, his three sons Ronald Craig Broussard and his wife Cindy David Broussard of Houston Texas, Cory Broussard and his wife Jodie Landry Broussard of Pensacola Florida, Carl Broussard and his wife Monica Mergist Broussard of Pensacola Florida, and his six grandchildren Colby, Casey, Seth, Austin, Hayden, and Conner.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Amy Hebert Broussard, two special aunts Ellie and Laura Hebert and his in-laws Dulas and Adley Touchet.
The family would like to extend special thank you to Donna and Calvin Touchet, Jacqueline Key, Knox Bergeron and Debbie Rogers for all of their help over the last five years. Also special thanks to the staff at Pelican Pointe in Maurice, Louisiana.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, 8700 Maurice Ave, Maurice, on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
