Abbeville—Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 at a 12:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Timothy Paul Guidry, 56, who died Thursday, March 26, 2015 at his residence.
Father Neil Pettit will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Cody Miller, Genson Dennies, Damon Fontenot, Bryan Domingue, Kerry Simon, Mike Bulliard, Tyler LeBlanc and Lane Simon.
Tim was a lifelong resident of Abbeville. He has held many American Quarter Horse Association and American Paint Horse Association titles and won many awards. He served as a member of the American Paint Horse Association, and in fact the youngest National Director of the American Paint Horse Association ever elected. He was also a member of the Louisiana Quarter Horse Association and served as Louisiana Quarter Horse Association director. He won American Paint Horse World Championships in 1978. He was a big supporter of 4-H and equestrian events throughout the south. At the time of his passing, Tim was the current Director of Acadiana Fairgrounds of New Iberia.
Tim has also been a strong backer of the Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagle program, where his twin sister, Kim Guidry "Gidge" has coached for 30 years. He was a graduate of Vermilion Catholic and University of Southwestern Louisiana.
He is survived by his parents, Jay and Annie Trahan Guidry; his sisters, Kim Guidry, and Tina Guidry Miller and her husband, Cody Miller all of Abbeville; and the joy of his life, his niece and Godchild, Lacy Miller of Lafayette.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
