Ulysse Broussard Jr.

November 8, 1933 — March 30, 2015

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Ulysse Broussard Jr., 81, who died Monday, March 30, 2015 at Abbeville General Hospital.


He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Keith Landry officiating the services.


Ulysse was born on November 8, 1933 in Abbeville. He graduated from Abbeville High School in 1952. He worked a number of years in the oilfield industry. In 1965, he became a member of the Abbeville Fire Department and retired as a Captain with 30 years of service. He then spent his retirement working on family property where he dug two fishponds and a crawfish pond with a shovel – no other equipment. Ulysse was a hard worker and loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He will be missed.


He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Eula Mae Hebert Broussard; his two sons, Ulysse "Sonny" Broussard III, Grant Broussard and his wife Kim Loan Do and their children, Angelle and Abigail of Abbeville; his four daughters, Lisa Broussard of Parks, Flomingo "Ming" Broussard and her son, Brett of New Iberia, Claudia B. Elmer and her fiancé, Brandon Seaux and their children, Kayla and Tyler Elmer and Milah Seaux of Abbeville, April B. Touchet and her husband Shawn and their children, Maddix and Bailor of Moss Bluff, and Aja Touchet of Houston, TX; his great granddaughter, Brylee Meaux; three sisters, Nora Broussard and Elise Broussard of Lafayette and Delta Broussard of Abbeville; one brother, Adam Broussard of Abbeville; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lona and Truman Abshire.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre Ulysse Broussard and the former Medora Hebert; two brothers, Jimmy John Broussard and Murphy Broussard, one sister, Wanda Broussard; his paternal grandparents, Adam Broussard and the former Corinne Romero; and his maternal grandparents Madeo Hebert and the former Celina LeBlanc.


The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
