Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Monday, April 6, 2015 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Catholic Church honoring the life of Lilly Richard Cessac, 95, who died Thursday, April 2, 2015 at her residence.
She will be laid to rest at Esther Community Cemetery with Reverend Emmanuel Fernandez officiating the services.
Throughout her 95 years Lilly meant so much to many. She was actively involved in every aspect of her church parish at St. James in Esther. She was a sacristan, a member of St. Anne's Altar Society, Lay Carmelites, the choir and was a eucharistic minister to shut-ins. She made regular visits to the nursing home to visit family and friends. In recognition of her kind deeds and service, she was the recipient of the Bishop's Service Award.
Lilly loved to entertain friends and family and was known for her layout of delicious food and her multitude of desserts like only she could prepare. Her family has wonderful memories of get togethers spent in her beautiful yard filled with a variety of flowers, as she was an avid flower and vegetable gardener.
She is survived by her nephew whom she raised as her own son, Charlie Cessac and his wife, Ethel; two grandsons, Justin Cessac and Luke Cessac; nephew, Danny Richard; three nieces, Kathy Willis, Tammy Landry and Marie Manovich.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Cessac; parents, Alphe Richard and the former Ella Bellanger; grandson, Chuck Cessac; two brothers, Ivy Richard and Murray Richard; and two nephews, Tommy Richard and Jimmy Richard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, April 5, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Monday April 6, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
The family would like to acknowledge Family Choice Hospice, especially Leah, Lilah, and Mona for the care they provided to Lilly in her time of need. They would also like to thank the many people that visited Lilly and cared for her throughtout the years. Lilly's family would like to thank Janice Gary, Debbie Morgan, Betty Vaugh, Ellen Koch and Daniel and Cathy Harris for their care and compassion.
