Howard James Menard

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Friday, April 17, 2015 at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Howard James Menard, 67, who died Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at his residence. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Cedric Sonnier officiating the services.

Howard was a very loving and dedicated father. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was their biggest and loudest fan at their games. He was an avid gardener who loved the outdoors. Howard loved to cut up and always had a great time dancing and telling jokes. He was a great friend and will be missed by all.


He is survived by his spouse of two years, Gayle Broussard Menard of Maurice; one son, Shane Menard of Kaplan; one daughter, Monique McNabb of Kaplan; mother of his children, Dot Hernandez of Scott; four sisters, Nola Menard of Abbeville, Lucille Barrass of Catahoula , Agnes Foti of New Iberia, and Florine Rockenbough of Patterson; one brother, Kenneth Menard of Kaplan; and five grandchildren, Gage Menard, Rhett Menard, Tyler McNabb, Morgan McNabb, and Hunter McNabb.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Menard and the former Estelle Dubois; three brothers, Paul Menard, Arthur Menard, Jr., and Frank Menard; seven sisters, Florence Landry, Hazel Menard, Azalie Willis, Mabel Menard, Aline Keller, Eva Harrington, and Rida Hollier.


The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Friday, April 17, 2015 from 8 a.m. until services.
