Andrew Desormeaux

He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend John Vining officiating the services. Pallbearers are his long-time friends and Boys Night Bourree' Players, Reid Sellers, Blaine Saunier, Ronnie Romero, Presley Dore', Val Delino, Brent Delcambre, Jimmy Chauvin, and Wade East. Honorary pallbearers are CJ Foster, Nolan Sellers, Donald Broussard, Reno Dugas, Ray Frederick, Ed Reed, Don Frith, & Randy Menard.
Born July 1, 1947 and a long-time resident of Abbeville, LA. He was a Derrickman and Boat Captain for many years in the oilfield until he and his wife started Andy’s Hauling in 1993.
He loved being Grampy to many, playing on his backhoe, always doing for others, teaching others how to make cracklins-listening for those bells, having boudin and cracklins as his staple, his bourree’ games (don’t you die on Tues or Wed because he had cards), no one was a stranger to Grampy, he loved sharing his knowledge and wisdom with anyone that he came in contact with, Western movies (having control of the remote), those barnyard animals, that bread man’s phone call, picking on those around him, a garden filled with vegetables just to give away, and practical jokes.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Gloria Floyd Desormeaux; his five children, Rusty Desormeaux and his wife, Amy; Julie Ford and her husband, Lance, Tim Stansbury and his partner, Rachel Rung, Keith Stansbury and his wife, Nicky Lynn, and Nicole Chauvin and her partner, Gil Landry; his dearly beloved grandchildren, Easton, Emma, Cole, Carrie Ann, Megan, Don, Maci, Makenzi, and Kristin; four great-grandchildren; his siblings, Elia Faul and her husband, Larry, Delfred “Kenu” Desormeaux and his wife, Beckie, Daniel Desormeaux and his wife, Gaynell, Donald Desormeaux and his wife, Brenda, and Margaret Domec; and his nieces and nephews, Barry Faul, Rhonda Foreman, Skyla Belaire (Godchild), Shayne Desormeaux, Derek Desormeaux, Colby Desormeaux, Kendall Domec, Brock Desormeaux and Pamela Rushing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Preston Desormeaux, Jr.; his mothers, Agnes Trahan and Agnes Desormeaux; and son-in-law, Andy Chauvin.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, April 30, 2015 from 1:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Friday, May 1, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
