Gueydan—Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Mary Ann Premeaux Smith, 80, who died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Gueydan Memorial Guest Home. She will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Corey Campeaux officiating the services.
Mary Ann was born on December 23, 1934 in Biloxi, MS. She was the oldest of three children. She moved to Gueydan at the age of 13 where she met the love of her life L.C. They married April 17, 1949, when she was 14 years old. Mary Ann worked in the cafeteria at Gueydan High School and as nursing assistant at Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital. She retired from Gueydan Memorial Guest Home after 20 years of working as a nursing assistant & ward clerk in 2012. Mary Ann was loved by all her co-workers and all the nursing home residents. Mary Ann was a wonderful cook! If you were invited to eat, the menu that day would most likely consist of fired pork chops, fried chicken, fried shrimp, cream potatoes, cream corn, black-eyed peas with tasso, mac and cheese, salad and dessert! She always made sure there was plenty to eat! Her hobbies included word puzzles, bingo, reading, gardening, canning and raising farm animals. She loved spending time with her family and adored her beloved dogs Ike, Tiny, T-Neg and Lisa. Rest in Peace Nanny. We will always love and remember you!
She is survived by her adopted daughter, Dawn and her husband, Noel Hinton; two grandsons, Cameron and Aiden Hinton; one brother, Donald Premeaux and his wife, Gayle; family that she welcomed as if they were her own children included two nieces, Carla and her husband, Eric Bourque and Ann and her husband, Sam Webb; two nephews, Raymond Smith and his wife, Sheryl and Darren Smith and his wife, Melissa; two great nieces, Jennifer and her husband, Chris Lewis and Destiny Duclion; and two great nephews, Dale Duclion and Dusty Smith and his wife, Lynne.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Louis "LC" Smith; and her parents, Eddie Premeaux and the former RosaBelle Lemaire.

The family would also like to thank Dr. Ronald Lewis, Heart of Hospice Team and Gueydan Memorial Guest Home for taking such great care of her.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth Street, on Friday, May 22, 2015 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 6 p.m.; Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 8 a.m. until services.
