Olga R. Pickett

She was predeceased by her parents, George and Emma Ramke; all brothers and sisters, Louise, Diedrich, Bernice, Hermann, William, Thomas, Lloyd, and Marvin; and her husband, Herbert Pickett.
She is survived by her daughter Pat Pickett Ewert; grandson James Ewert and his wife Debbie; grandson Michael Ewert and his wife Julie, and their 2 sons, Olga’s great grandsons, Jonathan and Ben; and granddaughter Anna Marie Ewert-Pittman and her husband Brian Pittman.
Olga was fifth of nine children. She graduated valedictorian of Henry High School, attended Louisiana Normal School, and graduated from LSU in 1934. In 1959 she received her Masters in Education from North Texas State University. Olga married Herbert Pickett in 1938. They had only one child, Patricia Ann Pickett.
After a teaching career of twenty years, Olga and Herbert retired to Bancker in 1978 where they lived until 2005 when hurricane Rita forced them to evacuate their home. They moved to Dallas, Texas, to be near their daughter Pat.
Olga chose not to have a viewing and her burial will be private. A Memorial Service will be held at Abbeville United Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 2, at 11:00 a.m.
