Joycelyn Anne Primeaux

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2015 at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Joycelyn Anne Primeaux, 64, who died Wednesday, August 26, 2015 peacefully at her home. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Rev. Mark Miley officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be her nine nephews. Readers and offertory bearers will be her eight nieces.


Joycelyn was a longtime client of the Alleman Center day program. She gave her family a lifetime of memories, laughter, giggles, and smiles. Despite her daily challenges, she continued to amaze all who knew her. She taught her family about living and loving. She enjoyed singing and dancing with her stuffed animals to American Bandstand and Soul Train music. Joycelyn looked forward to family gatherings, BBQ’s, holidays, birthdays, weddings, and having her favorite, chocolate cake and milkshakes.


She is survived by her mother, Rose Mae Richard Primeaux of Kaplan; her brothers, Robert Michael "Mike" Primeaux and his wife, Jennifer of Kaplan, Larry Paul Primeaux and his wife, Laura of Kaplan, Kenneth Charles Primeaux and his wife, Darlene of Kaplan; her sisters, Janet Marie Primeaux Broussard of Lafayette, Barbara Gayle and her husband, Billy Guttry of Kaplan, and Judy Evelyn and her husband, Scott Owens of Kaplan; 17 nieces and nephews, Jeremy, Robbie, Ryan, Jacob, Kenny, Hanson, Adam, Lance, Ethan, Jessica, Kimberly, Chancy, Aimee, Melissa, Leslie, Paulette, and Mandy; her god father, John Jack Richard of Baton Rouge; and numerous great nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.


She was preceded in death by her father, Huey Paul Primeaux; her grandparents, Elizabeth S. Roy, S.A. Richard, Henry and Aspazie Trahan Primeaux; and her god mother, Necez Vondenstein.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Randall Faulk, Dr. Kerry Brown, Dr. Lance Lege, and Kaplan Home Health for their years of compassion and care. They also want to thank her care givers that loved her and allowed her to live a full happy life in her own home surrounded by her family.


The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Friday, August 28, 2015 from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 8 a.m. until services.
