Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Friday, September 18, 2015 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Charles Ronald Meaux, Sr., 75, who died Wednesday, September 16, 2015. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Fr. Mark Miley officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Ronald Meaux, Jr., James Reaux, Kenneth Blanc, Francis Meaux, Lonnie Vincent, and Marc Comeaux.
Ronnie was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He died of a heart attack while hunting teal early Wednesday morning with his black lab Duke, at his side. As a young man he went into business with his father who owned Meaux Lumber Store. He worked a lifetime developing the lumber store into a very successful business. With his retirement, his son and nephew have continued to operate and run the business. Lovingly known as “Pa Ron” to his family, there was nothing more that he loved to do than spend his time with them. His favorite pastime was to plan his next Cajun meal, especially on LSU game nights. Ronnie was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rayetta B. Meaux of Kaplan; one son, Charles Ronald Meaux, Jr. and his wife, Michele R. of Kaplan; one daughter, Caroline M. and her husband, James E. Reaux of Youngsville; one brother, Francis Leon Meaux of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Kimberly Meaux, Katie Meaux, Mason Reaux, Camille Reaux, and Ruthanne Reaux; and one great grandchild, Carter Meaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Meaux and the former Lillian Broussard; and one brother, Harry Gene Meaux.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 9 a.m. until services with a rosary being prayed at 10:30 a.m.
