Abbeville—Memorial services will be held Friday, November 27, 2015 at a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of Laura Landry LaPlace, 88, who died Saturday, November 21, 2015 at her residence.
She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Rev. Gregory Cormier officiating the services.
She is survived by her son, Ron LaPlace of Erath; daughter, Judy Whitmire and her husband Chris of Denham Springs; brother, Richard Landry and his wife Sharon of Milton, Fl; sister, Velma Landry of Abbeville; five grandchildren, Joshua LaPlace and his wife Susan, Ambre Broussard and her husband Kenny, Arianne Allums and her husband Thomas, Jenine Warren and her husband Bryan and Leah Mince and her husband Freddy; eight great grandchildren, Jada Broussard and Ellie Broussard, Ava Allums and Cohen Allums, Madison Warren and Bailey Warren, Jackson Mince and Lennon Mince; and numerous and loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. LaPlace; son, Thomas LaPlace; parents, Sulie Landry and the former Marie Belanger; brother, Joseph Landry; and a sister, Seva Landry.
The family would like to express deepest and warmest appreciation to Laura's caregivers of the past several years. Through the loving care they provided to her, she came to look upon them as part of her family. Her caregivers were Carol Dubois, Shirley Reaux, Penny Coleman, Geneva Coleman, Bianca Comeaux and Cicely Comeaux.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church, 101 N. Leonard Street, on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 9:30 am until time of service.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Therese Catholic Church in Abbeville.
