Abbeville—Funeral services will be held for Hazel Huntsberry Broussard, 95, on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 11:00AM at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church with a rosary to be recited at 9:30 AM.
Burial will follow at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery.
She passed away Friday, November 27, 2015 at Abbeville General Hospital surrounded by family.
Hazel was born in Abbeville on August 6, 1920. She enjoyed shopping, planting flowers in her yard, talking on the phone, and going to the casino. She also loved Zydeco music and loved to bake cakes. You could always find her sitting on her front porch greeting everyone who passed by. Hazel was a faithful member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church and never missed a weekend Mass.
She is survived by one nephew, Alvin Petry of Lafayette; two great nieces, Kimberly Webster of Lafayette and Cheryl “Candy” Webster of Abbeville whom she raised; two Godsons, Joseph Huntsberry and Elworth Petry of Abbeville; one sister-in-law, Emma Epps of Lafayette; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Erard and Leonie Rico Huntsberry; four brothers, John Huntsberry, Leon Huntsberry, Ned Huntsberry, and Rainey Huntsberry; three sisters, Laura Petry, Rosenell Mouton, and Agnes Williams; and her beloved husband, Heymond Broussard.
