ABBEVILLE— Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of John Larry Vincent, 69, who died Thursday, January 21, 2016 at his residence.
He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Rev. Gregory Cormier officiating the services. Pallbearers will be the Marine Corps League. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Vincent, Styve Vincent, Cary Darling, Chad Duhon, Jason Woodard, Bobby Dean Burnette, Daren Roy, and Brock Darling.
John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed and forever remembered in the hearts of all those who loved him. His pride and joy was his children and grandchildren.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served our country during the Vietnam Era. He was a proud father whose military career inspired all three of his children to serve their country. He was an altar boy and choir member at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council and a former Boy Scout Leader.
John and Linda were members of the Rice City Ramblers camper group and traveled with their friends and family throughout most of the United States.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Sellers Vincent; two sons, Bryan Vincent and his wife Jennifer, and Styve Vincent; daughter, Nannette Darling and her husband Cary; seven grandchildren, Victorya Vincent, Lauren Vincent, Brock Darling, Jordan Vincent, Gina Vincent, Hannah Darling, and Camille Vincent; two sisters, Joyce Daigle, and Ruth Comeaux; his four legged fur baby "Izzy"; three men he loved like his own, Chad Duhon, Jason Woodard, and Bobby Dean Burnette; and his men offshore that called him "Pops"; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Marie Styve Vincent and the former Lena Wiltz; brother, Donald Vincent; and sister, Ethel Bouillion.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
