Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Monday, February 1, 2016 at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Peggy Ruth Dartez, 76, who died Friday, January 29, 2016 at Lafayette General Medical Center. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery.

Mrs. Dartez was a group leader for Come Lord Jesus for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, John Earl "Snow" Dartez of Kaplan; five sons, Alex Dartez and his wife, Millie of Salt Lake City, UT, Kevin Dartez and his wife, Maria of Abbeville, Kent Dartez and his wife, Tricia of Lafayette, David Dartez and his wife, Kim of Overton, TX, and Greg "Snow" Dartez and his wife, Katina of Kaplan; thirteen grandchildren, Carissa and her husband, Todd Springer, Lacey Dartez, Ben Dartez and his wife, Natalie, Brooks Dartez, Abigail Dartez, Daniel Dartez, Lauren Dartez, Angelle Dartez, Emily Dartez, Blair Dartez, Cameron Dartez, Cade Dartez, and Sidney Dartez; and three great grandchildren, Kayla Springer, Ty Springer, and Grayson Dartez.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex Melancon and the former Alma Guilbeaux; one sister, Henrietta "Honey" Couvillon; and one brother-in-law, George Couvillon.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Monday, February 1, 2016 from 8 a.m. until services.
