ABBEVILLE — A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Abbeville United Methodist Church, honoring the life of Ronald Lester Thomas, 79, who died Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital,
Reverend John Vining will officiate.
A gathering of friends and family will take place from 11:00 a.m. until time of services.
Ronald, beloved husband, loving father, and attentive grandfather was a native and resident of Abbeville. Ronald was the owner/operator of Thomas Insurance Agency of over 60 years. He was a longtime member of Abbeville United Methodist Church. At a very young age he was an active member in Kiwanis Club, Shriners and past Master of the Abbeville Masonic Lodge No. 192.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kay Smith Thomas; two daughters, Laura Thomas Lejeune and her husband Michael of Meaux, and Marilyn Thomas Cabrol and her husband Buddy of Abbeville; six grandchildren, Amy Nicole Lejeune, Cassidy Ray Lejeune, Julie Kay Romero, Katie Cabrol Villien, Mitchell Ryan Cabrol, and Jennah Claire Cabrol; and six great grandchildren, Ashton Hammond, Evelyn Lejeune, Maddox Hammond, Eleanor Lejeune, Thomas Villien, and Sawyer Villien.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Thomas and the former Thelma Harkins.
The Thomas family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the doctors and nurses in I.C.U. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center for the wonderful care provided. Special thank you to Heath Hammond who unselfishly donated his kidney 9 years ago to allow Ronald a second chance at life.
