Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of George Hernandez, Jr., 85, who died Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Lafayette General Medical Center. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Mark Miley officiating the services.

He is survived by his two sons, Herbert Verret and his wife, June of Cow Island and Greg Verret and his wife, Kim of Cow Island; two daughters, Mary and her husband, David Detraz of Maurice and Georgette and her husband, John Reed of Lafayette; 10 grandchildren, Khristie Frith, Tara Gaspard, Tanya Moorehead, Jade Sines, Buck Verret, Blake Verret, Shanie Verret, Brooke LeBeouf, Brittney Detraz, and Hunter Hernandez; and 15 great grandchildren, Blair Frith, Beau Frith, Raegan Frith, Alyssa Gaspard, Aiden Gaspard, Ayla Gaspard, Adelynn Gaspard, Tyler Moorehead, Brylee Moorehead, Cody Verret, Gabriel Verret, Evangeline Verret, Henri Verret, Hayes LeBeouf, and Dustee LeBeouf.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Hernandez; and his parents, George Hernandez, Sr. and the former Cecile Montet.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 9 a.m until services with a rosary being prayed at 11 a.m.
