Bertha Zaunbrecher Breaux
June 6, 1926 — December 13, 2016
A native of Gueydan and a resident of Lafayette, Bertha was the oldest of 12 children whom she helped raise. She was the wife of Paul Breaux for 33 years. She enjoyed cooking and visiting with friends. Bertha loved being surrounded by children and especially enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never met a stranger and will be missed by all.
She is survived by her three sons, Dominic Breaux of Lafayette, Raymond Breaux of Lafayette, and John Breaux of Sunset; two daughters, Mary Breaux of Sunset and Catherine Breaux of Sunset; one brother, Floyd Zaunbrecher of Gueydan; five sisters, Augusta Bollich of Jones, LA, Ramona Petry of Jennings, Carolyn Guidry of Gueydan, Barbara Leonards of Crowley, and Jackie Francois of Mowata; 13 grandchildren, Andrew Gesch, Jason Gesch, Amber Olivier, Gabriel Gesch, Aaron Breaux, Aubrey Breaux, Brian Swearingen, Brendon Swearingen, Christa Swearingen, Joseph Swearingen, Jennifer Breaux, Michael Breaux, and Jared Yasher; and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Zaunbrecher and the former Barbara Frey; and five brothers, Raymond Zaunbrecher, Edmond Zaunbrecher, Vincent Zaunbrecher, Harry Zaunbrecher, and Wayne Zaunbrecher.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth St., on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Friday, December 16, 2016 from 8:00 AM until the procession departs for the church.
