Allen Dale Belaire was born April 12, 1946, in New Iberia, LA, and died Oct 28, 2025, in Erath, LA, after 42 years of cancer battles. He was the firstborn of twins to his parents, Dudley Paul and Maudray Delcambre Belaire. Dale graduated from Henry High in 1964 and joined the U.S. Navy the same year. The Navy marked some of the best years of his life. He was honorably discharged in 1968 and returned home to the place he loved best. He retired from Omega Protein in 2015, where he worked as the Director of Aviation Maintenance.

Dale had many interesting careers, but the one he loved best was aviation. He loved flying and working on aircraft and spent many hours above the ground. He learned aerobatics and spent many happy hours doing rolls, loops, twists, and turns.

On November 30, 1974, he married the love of his life, Janis Lane Belaire, and spent a life of love with her. He leaves behind his spouse of over 50 years, Janis; three sons, Allen Shane Belaire, Stacy Belaire, and Gary (Regina) Cremeens; five grandchildren, Jessica (Michael) Vincent, Chris (Amber) Belaire, Lydia Belaire (Stephen Trahan), Cameron Michalk, and Carie (Rob) Lince; three great grandchildren, Owen Vincent, Bennet Rogers, and R.J. Lince; a brother, Elliot (Vickie) Belaire; a brother in law, Bradley Lane; a special sister in law, Joyce Lane; and various nieces and nephews. He always said his niece, Jennifer Comeaux, was his little girl. She helped in his care during his final days. He also had a special godchild, Luke Suire, who was his right-hand helper and his fishing buddy. His loss will be sorely felt by many friends and family and especially by his wife, Janis.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dudley Paul and Maudrey Belaire; his twin brother and closest lifelong partner in crime, Blaine Paul Belaire; and both sets of grandparents.

Besides flying, he loved fishing and stargazing. He had three telescopes; the largest was the “size of a canon”, according to the UPS delivery man. He loved music and had numerous hard drives filled with different genres. He would spend hours downloading, recording, and playing music. His barbeques and seafood boils were filled with music, beer, fun, and food. He spent hours learning how to fix photos that were damaged by time and restoring them to their former glory. He loved maintaining his yard (which he fashioned out of a cow pasture) into a beautiful showpiece and also caring for the adjoining five acres. He loved his lawnmowers and had four that he enjoyed showing off.

He lived on the property where he was born for most of his life, and he passed away from cancer in the house that he and his wife built 32 years ago.

Dale was a member of The American Legion Post 29 and attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Henry, and had a great love for Father Manny and the parishioners of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

All funeral arrangements are being conducted by Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville (337) 893-4661.
