Benny Dale LeMaire, 79, passed away on October 8, 2026, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.
To know him was to know laughter, joy, and a personality that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. No matter the room, the occasion, or the people around him, he had a way of bringing smiles and laughter wherever he went. Always quick with a joke, a story, or an unexpected comment, you never quite knew what he might say next. Those who knew him often described him as “a trip,” a phrase that perfectly captured the humor and unforgettable personality he carried throughout his life.
He served in the National Guard and dedicated much of his professional life to law enforcement and investigative work. His career began with the Kaplan Police Department, where he served as a detective, and later continued with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office, where he held the position of Chief of Detectives. His passion for investigative work carried on through his 23 years with Hub Enterprises, where he served as an investigator until his retirement. His work was more than just a profession. It was something he genuinely loved and took great pride in.
Throughout his career, he earned the respect and admiration of those who recognized his dedication, knowledge, and exceptional abilities as an investigator. Beyond his professional accomplishments was a man who genuinely cared for others. He was an incredible listener, someone who offered thoughtful advice, and someone who made people feel heard and valued. He also had a passion and talent for cooking, especially when it meant preparing a meal for those he loved. Whether cooking for his son or making the barbecue his daughter loved so much, the kitchen was one of the many places where he expressed his love and created lasting memories.
He will be remembered for his service, his wisdom, the laughter he shared, and the love he showed. But perhaps most of all, he will be remembered for the lasting impression he left on everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
He is survived by his three sons, Chad LeMaire and his wife, Sue of Hawaii, Colby LeMaire and his wife, Heather of Lafayette, and Bennett LeMaire of Youngsville; one daughter, Christina LeMaire and her wife Lauren of Mons, Belgium; three sisters, Judy Trahan of Vinton, Racheal Tupper and her husband, Toby of Kaplan, and Madeline Dubois of Kaplan; three brothers, Tommy LeMaire and his wife, Marcia of Deridder, Jason LeMaire and his wife, Janiece of Arkansas, and Kenneth LeMaire and his wife, Daphane of Kaplan; and three grandchildren, Madison, Everette and Mia LeMaire.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dallas Paul LeMaire; his mother, Lilly Marie Faulk; and two brothers, Rickey and Brian LeMaire.
A Celebration of Life honoring his memory will take place in November. Details regarding the date, time, and location will be announced at a later date.
All funeral arrangements are being conducted by Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan (337) 643-7276.
