Betty Foster Morgan

ABBEVILLE - A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Rev. Emmanuel Fernandez will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 8, 2026, at St. James Catholic Church, Esther (21125 LA Hwy. 333, Abbeville), honoring the life of Betty Jane Foster Morgan, 91, who passed away on January 5, 2026, at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Esther Community Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Morgan, Sean Edwards, Brad Pearson, John Foster, Trent Touchet, and William Appel.

Betty was a remarkable woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She found joy in mowing the grass, bush hogging, and raising cattle, reflecting her strong connection to the land. A sports enthusiast, she also played baseball, showcasing her competitive spirit and love for the game.

Alongside her husband, Betty co-owned and operated Shell Morgan Landing, Inc., a venture that underscored her commitment to hard work and family values. Each Labor Day, she would orchestrate a family reunion, bringing together extended family members for a day filled with seafood feasting, crew boat rides, and joyful swimming at the bay. These gatherings were a testament to her love of family and the bonds that held them together.

She is survived by her sons, Steven Craig Morgan and his wife Debbie, Tony Morgan and his wife Mary Kay, and Teddy Morgan, all of Abbeville; grandchildren, Millie Guidry, Katie Edwards, and Blake Morgan; and great-grandchildren, Maddison Guidry, Eleanor Edwards, Caroline Edwards, and Kai Morgan.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Shelton Morgan; parents, Pinckard Foster Jr. and the former Alice Marie Choate; sister, Lola Foster; and granddaughter, Pamela Choate.

The family wishes to extend a special note of gratitude to her caretaker, Marcie Roy, for her compassionate and dedicated care.
