Shorty dedicated much of his life to the oil industry, where through his exceptional work ethic he rose from a roustabout to a superintendent, culminating in a distinguished 43-year career. He retired as a Superintendent with Nabors Offshore in 2012. He also served in the Navy Reserves.
After retiring, Shorty embraced his love for the outdoors and pursued various hobbies with great passion. He spent many joyful hours skeet shooting, hunting, and fishing at the Mequin Camp. He found joy in tending to his vegetable garden, fruit trees, and crawfish pond. An avid reader, Shorty had an extensive collection of Western books that he cherished deeply.
Shorty also loved playing cards and was known for his fiercely competitive spirit in games of Poker and Euchre. Friends and family who shared a card table with him knew that he played to win and was quick to call out any bad plays, making each game an unforgettable experience.
