Brenda Theall Hanks

ABBEVILLE - A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Rev. François Sainte-Marie will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, honoring the life of Brenda Theall Hanks, 76, who passed away on February 2, 2026, at Pelican Pointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Cody Hebert, Cale LeMaire, Sara LeMaire, Kenneth St Amant, Brian Vidallier, and Gerad Landry. Honorary pallbearer, Cameron Hebert.

A devoted homemaker and a pillar of love, Brenda lived for her family. She was a beloved wife to her husband, Raymond Hanks, and a nurturing mother to her son, Dennis, and her daughter, Angelette. Throughout her life, she poured her heart into nurturing those around her, weaving memories that will forever live on in the hearts of her loved ones. As a grandmother, sister, and friend, her warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, inviting comfort and joy to all who knew her. Brenda's faith was her compass. A devout Catholic and member of the Lay Carmelite Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, she proudly wore her brown scapular as a symbol of her commitment to her faith. At St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, she loved to volunteer her time, sharing her light with her community and growing stronger in spirit through the bonds of faith.

A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. Saint Charles St., Abbeville, on Tuesday, February 03, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 9:00 pm with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 pm. The visitation will continue on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 8:00 AM until 12:45 PM, when the procession departs for the church.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Raymond J. Hanks; daughter, Angelette L. Hebert; sister, Romona Bourque; grandchildren, Cody and Cameron Hebert, Cale and Sara LeMaire; and great-grandchildren, Zander and Ezra LeMaire.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dudley J. Theall and the former Marie Verna LeBlanc; son, Dennis James LeMaire; maternal grandparents, Elise and Edgar LeBlanc; brother, Johnnie Lee Theall; and sister, Judith "Judy" Vidallier.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Faye Broussard, Carleen Frederick, Gerald Vidallier, and Loretta Gayneaux and Douglas Romero from St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, whose kindness and support have meant so much during this time. 

Let us remember Brenda not with sorrow, but with laughter and joy, sharing stories and memories that celebrate her remarkable spirit. She may have departed from our sight, but she will never leave our hearts.
