Carey McCarta was a Boat Captain for 40 years. He was a proud licensed boat captain through the U.S.C.G. He worked for Jade Marine for over 30 years. He had a strong work ethnic which he will be remembered for. He worked from a very young age until he wasn’t physically able to work.
His greatest passions were gambling, traveling and “road trips”. He loved taking cruises, watching game shows, and dining in restaurants. He was a successful entrepreneur. He loved his family and spent his life devoted to them. His happy smile, positive attitude and sense of humor will be lost. There will always be a void in our hearts because he is not with us anymore. Our loss today cannot be measured.
Survivors include his daughter, Teresa McCarta and beloved grand dog Beaux of Abbeville, La.; stepchildren, Shawn, Dawn, and Timothy Cheramie of Plaquemines Parish; and numerous friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Mae Jordan; and sister, Hazel Marie.
Special thanks to his Surgical Oncologist, Dr. Emery Minnard, of the Crescent Surgical Group in Gretna, La. for the unwavering care and services he and his team provided. It was an unknown road and you traveled it well, thanks. Special thanks also to the Heart of Hospice team that passionately helped care for him.
Elliott Mistich, “Jr.” did not disappoint walking in his dad’s shoes. You were more than a boss; you were always his very good friend.
Last but not least are his special friends, Sambo Moreau, Leroy Latham, George Wallace, Carol Bonvillian, Tammy Frederick, Huey and Linda McAllister, Ed and Sarah, and Milton and Gail, thanks for a lifetime of friendship.
