Carl James Hardin

ABBEVILLE - It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Carl James Hardin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Carl, who was born on May 31, 1941, in Abbeville, LA, peacefully left us on April 4, 2026, at the age of 84.

An avid outdoorsman, Carl loved spending time fishing and hunting, particularly in his cherished Pecan Island, where he created countless memories. He also had a passion for gardening, reveling in the joy of nurturing plants and watching them thrive.

He is survived by his daughters, Ruth Potier (Keith), Lisa Griffith (Hallie), Amy Turnley (Matt), and Janet Dahlen. Carl also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren, Matthew Griffith, Brett Griffith, Paige Potier, Seth Dahlen, Ross Dahlen, Alexa Broussard, and Alex Clark; and fifteen great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored.

Carl was preceded in death by his loving wife, Juanita Ardeneaux Hardin; his parents, Elmer Hardin and the former Eva Broussard; two sisters, Emma Lou Winch and Esther Bourque; and one great-grandson, Cameron Pieper. His family will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

Visitation will be held at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. Saint Charles St., Abbeville, on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 9:00 AM until the time of services. A funeral service will take place at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 12:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Pecan Island Community Cemetery.
