Abbeville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday December 9, 2025 at 1:00 PM for Carrol “Boy” James Guilbeaux, 92 will be held at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church with Reverend Francois Sainte-Marie officiating. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Mausoleum. The family request visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 S. Saint Charles Street, Abbeville, LA on Tuesday December 9, 2025 from 9:30 PM, until 12:45 PM when the procession departs for church, with a rosary to be prayed at 11:30 AM, by Karl Guilbeau.

Musical selections will be Here I am Lord, Ave Maria, In the Gardens, He touched me, The battle Hymn of the Republic. Readers for the Mass will be Bonnie Guidry and Monique Cossich. Gift bearers will be Kathy Lelanc and Michelle Russell.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Karl Guilbeau, Jason W. Guilbeau, Duane Guilbeau, Troy Guilbeau, Cullen Guilbeau, Randy Matthews. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald J Guilbeau, James Broussard and Keith Lejeune.

Carrol was born on July 4, 1933, in Lafayette, LA to the late E. Walter Guilbeau, Sr. and the late Edua Marie Guidry Guilbeau. Carrol was a 1953 graduate of Scott High School. Upon graduation from high school, Carrol joined the U.S. Army. He served in the 159th Artillery Battalion in Korea for 18 months. After honorable discharge, he worked for South Central Bell and retired from AT&T as a Systems Technician. Carrol was honored for his volunteer efforts by former Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco.

He was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers where he participated in numerous volunteer projects such as maintaining the Christmas Lights at Acadian Village. He led this project for many years. Thousands of guests enjoyed the lighted village due to his work setting up and maintaining the Christmas lights. Other projects included building ramps for the disabled and other projects at Acadian Village. A parishioner of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church in Abbeville, Carrol was an usher since 1988.

Survived by: A native of the Scott Community and a resident of Abbeville, Carrol is survived by his brother Ronald J. Guilbeau (Linda) of Lafayette and sister-in-law Mrs. Malcolm (Rose) Guilbeau. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and Godchildren.

Preceded in death by: His parents Walter and Marie Guidry Guilbeau both of Lafayette Parish, his wife, Lena Stamant, two brothers E. Walter Guilbeau, Jr. and Malcom “Boo” Guilbeau, three sisters and their spouses, Mrs. Russell (Joyce) Matthews, Mrs. Nathan (Mary Ann) Lejeune, Mrs. John Oran (Rose) Guilbeau, two infant nieces and nephew Kieth Anthony Matthews.

Memorial Contributions In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Carrol’s name may be made to: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
