Cecilia Winnie Lege LeGros, affectionately known as “Winnie,” passed away peacefully at her home on September 29, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on November 24, 1931, in Kaplan, Louisiana, to Laura (Hollier) and Joseph "Slim" Simonet Lege, Winnie grew up in Jennings, where she developed a lifelong love of family, faith, and community. In her early years, she worked for the telephone company before meeting the love of her life, Frank W. LeGros Sr. The two were married on November 30, 1950, and later made their home in Abbeville, where they raised their family and built a life grounded in devotion and love. They shared 50 wonderful years together before Frank’s passing. A devout Catholic, Winnie’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was deeply committed to daily prayer and Adoration and found great peace and strength in her spiritual practices. As a professed Lay Carmelite, she deepened her spiritual journey through the Carmelite tradition of contemplative prayer and service, taking her final profession on October 19, 1994. Winnie had a generous spirit and a warm, welcoming nature. She loved tending her flower gardens, shopping for little treasures, and visiting with friends and family.
