Abbeville- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 PM, Monday, November 4, 2024 at Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Charles Russell Porche, 82, passed away on November 1, 2024, at his home in New Iberia, Louisiana, surrounded by his family.Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery with Father Keith Landry officiating.
Charles was born November 1, 1942, to Edward and Ora (Diez) Porche in Franklin, Louisiana. Charles was the second of three sons. He graduated from Hanson Memorial High School in 1960 as a multisport athlete, where he won a state championship in track. He attended USL on a full track scholarship, graduating in 1965. While there, he met the love of his life, Priscilla Bouillion and they married on August 22, 1964.
He enjoyed a long career in the beverage industry, retiring from Coca-Cola in February 2002. He loved golfing, hunting, watching westerns, and sports of any kind. In the 1980's, he coached the New Iberia Pee Wee football Packers, touching many lives along the way. He was a devoted servant of the Lord, and a loving husband and father.
Charles is survived by his wife, Priscilla, daughters Stephanie (Ike) Williams, Gretchen (Joe) Jefferies, son Seth Porche, grandchildren Charlie (Mary Cait) and Lauren Williams, Spencer, Mitchell and Drew Jefferies, Jonathan Markham, and Ashlyn Porche, and his great grandchildren, Rhett, Mary Alice, and Truett Williams. He is also survived by his brothers, Edward (Marie) and John (Beverly) Porche, his brother-in-law, Ricky (Shirleen) Bouillion and his sister-in-law, Ellen (Mo) Faugot, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to thank Dr. Carl Ditch and his staff for their many years of caring for Charles. They would also like to thank Hospice of Acadiana and his nurse, Laura Thibodeaux, for the wonderful care provided.
The family request visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville on Monday November 04, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 2:15 PM when the procession will depart for church. Eulogy at 1:15 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 1:30 PM.
