ABBEVILLE - A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Rev. James Bam Nguyen will be held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at St. Andrew Dung Lac, honoring the life of Deacon Tam Minh Tran, 80, who passed away on July 30, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers will be his eldest grandson, David Tran will hold his portrait, Andy Nguyen, Austin Nguyen, Timmy Nguyen, Peter Nguyen, Rich Nguyen, and Thomas Tran.

Born on October 20, 1945, in Hue, Vietnam, Deacon Tran was a devoted husband, father, and servant of the Lord whose life made a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Deacon Tran was a proud college graduate who earned his degree and pursued careers in acupuncture and nursing. His lifelong love of learning and sharing the teachings of the Bible led him to serve as a deacon at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church beginning in 2000, as well as at St. Andrew Dung Lac. Guided by his faith, he devoted himself to serving others and helping those in his community.

Visitation will be held at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. Saint Charles St., Abbeville, on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 8:00 AM until 10:00 PM, with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM, and on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 7:30 AM until 8:30 AM, when the procession will depart for the church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Truong Thi Tran; their five children, Tri Minh Tran and his wife Yen Kim, Cindy Minh Thuy Tran and her husband Michael Truong, Tina Minh Tien Tran and her husband Tau Ba Nguyen, Thuc Minh Tran and his wife Thu Tran, and Mindy Minh Thao Tran and her husband Ly Nguyen; and seventeen grandchildren, Anna Tran, Abby Tran, David Tran, Ava Tran, Brandon Truong, Tiffany Truong, Angel Nguyen, Andy Nguyen, Austin Nguyen, Tony Tran, Thomas Tran, Toby Tran, Theodore Tran, Timmy Nguyen, Peter Nguyen, Rich Nguyen, and Amy Nguyen.

He was preceded in death by his son, Thong Minh “LJ” Tran; parents, Lien Tran and the former Toai Thi Nguyen; and brothers, Thanh Tran, Thanh Tran, and Tinh Tran.
