Delta Joseph Guillory, Jr., 76, was born on August 4, 1950, and died at home, peacefully in sleep, on August 27, 2026. A native of Reddell, Louisiana, Joe moved to Kaplan, Louisiana in 1972, shortly after he married Eileen, where the two of them began careers as teachers in Kaplan and raised their family.
For over thirty years before his retirement, Joe was band director at Rene Rost Middle School in Kaplan, where, with dedication and determination, he taught a generation of young musicians, including his three children. After retirement, he and Eileen enjoyed traveling together, visiting with family and friends, and spending time with their young grandchildren. Throughout his life he maintained a deep and loving connection with his parents and siblings, often visiting them in his childhood home in Reddell.
Joe's life was marked by a deep love of his Catholic faith, as he raised his family at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Kaplan, often attending daily Mass throughout his life and bringing holy Communion to the home bound in his later years. For many years he was involved in the Knights of Columbus, serving in various capacities in the local council, and took great pride in being a Knight.
Joe is preceded in death by his beloved wife Eileen, and his father, Delta Joseph Guillory, Sr.
He is survived by his three children, Fr Joshua Guillory, Jacob Guillory and his wife Chelsea, and Chelsey Schexnider and her husband Mitchell; his grandchildren Micaela, David, and Luke Schexnider, Josie Guillory, and one grandchild who will be born in October; his beloved mother Loretta Guillory; his four siblings, Jerome (Sheila) Guillory, Ann Vidrine, Ted (Gwen) Guillory, and Christina Soileau; his brother-in-law, Steve (Dona) Fontenot; as well as three aunts and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children and grandchildren.
Those who loved Joe deeply mourn his death in this life but hope for a blessed and joyful reunion in the kingdom that is to come, where every tear will be wiped away and all things made new.
