ABBEVILLE - A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Reverend François Sainte-Marie will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, honoring the life of Derek Jamerson Lee, 45, who passed away on September 5, 2025, at Calcutta House. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Patrick Martin, Matthew Martin, Kyle Gaspard, Kalen Gaspard, Brandon Romero, Xzavier Sloan, Cade Landry, and Seth Gaspard. Honorary pallbearers will be Jaxsen LeBlanc and Carlee Pete.

A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. Saint Charles St., Abbeville, on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. The visitation will continue on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 8:00 AM until the procession departs for the church at 10:45 AM.

To know Derek was to love him. He wasn’t just a friend; he was a brother, the “big” brother so many of us never had. Derek had a way of filling every room with laughter, and a larger-than-life spirit. He was unapologetically himself—real, and full of heart.

He is survived by his sisters, Jermaine Martin (Patrick), and Christine Lee and her wife, Lisa; brothers, Chad Lee and his wife, Brandy, and Kyle Gaspard; and nieces and nephews, Patrick Martin, Matthew Martin, and Carlee Pete.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sheran Broussard Lee; and father, Edgar Lee, Jr.
