Dolores Bussas Duhon

Maurice - A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Dolores Bourque Duhon, 88, will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church 2409 Coteau Road New Iberia, LA 70560 with Reverend Mario Romero officiating. Dolores passed away on Tuesday October 27, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. She will be laid to rest Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum in Coteau, LA. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Ryan Huval, Tucker Olander, Michael Duplechin, Jacob Duplechin, Trevor and Cullen LeBlanc. Honorary pallbearers John S. Duhon, Brian L. Bussas, Kevin J. Bussas and Kyle A. Bussas.

A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. Saint Charles St., Abbeville, on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 9:00 AM until 12:25 PM, when the procession will depart for the church. A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM.

Dolores was born on August 9, 1938, in Maurice, Louisiana. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, creating pieces with ceramics and spending time fishing. She was also a good cook who enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Narris Duhon; her daughters, Kristy B. Duplechin and her husband Michael; Cheryl H. Bussas her sons, Brian L. Bussas and his wife Melinda; and Kevin J. Bussas. Her siblings, Perry “Jimmy” Bourque and his wife Carolyn; Betty A. Perkins; Anna Lou Primeaux Decuir; Verna Lee Sonnier and Faye Bourque Broussard and her husband Kent. Dolores is also survived by seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; one stepson and two step grandchildren.

Dolores was preceded in death by her first husband, David L. Bussas; her parents, Alton Bourque and Vernice LaPointe Bourque; and her sister, Dianne Bourque.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, LA for the care they gave to Dolores.
