Obituary

Abbeville- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dudley Joseph Broussard Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us on June 13, 2026, at the age of 81. Dudley was born on October 29, 1944, in Abbeville, LA, where he spent his life surrounded by family, friends, and the community he loved.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church with Father Matthew Barzare officiating. Burial will be at Hebert Cemetery in Abbeville. Pallbearers will include his grandsons: Kyle Broussard, Brant Broussard, Drake Broussard, Grant Broussard, Alec Broussard, and son-in-law Steven Adams Jr.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Vincent Funeral Home in Abbeville from 9:00 AM until 1:45 PM when the procession will depart for church. A Rosary will be prayed at 1:00 PM.

Dudley dedicated his career to serving the community as a Road Superintendent for the Vermilion Parish Police Jury and served as President of 7th ward Volunteer Fire Department in the 1980s. He was not just known for his work, but for his unwavering commitment to youth sports in Abbeville.

His time coaching baseball not only shaped his sons and grandsons but touched the lives of countless kids in the area. He truly enjoyed supporting and organizing the American Legion baseball program and other youth athletic organizations, making a lasting impact on all he coached.

Dudley leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Judith Broussard; their sons, Troy Theall (Kerry) and Jamie Broussard (Kristina); daughters, Tina Noel (Marty) and Tiffany Adams (Steven); eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and siblings Susan Broussard (Wayne), Wayne Broussard, Shelley Broussard (Diana), and Robert Broussard (Denise).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dudley Joseph Broussard Sr. and Irene "Tye" Marie Hebert, and his brother Jerry David Broussard.A beloved figure with a generous spirit, Dudley will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kennedy Iheanacho and the staff at Abbeville General Cancer and Infusion Center, along with the Southern Grace Hospice nurses, Madeline, Hanna, and Treashur, for their compassionate care during his time of need.

Dudley's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. Rest in peace, Dudley; you will be greatly missed.
