Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Evans James “E.J.” Saltzman, 75, who gained his heavenly wings on Friday, September 13, 2024 surrounded by loved ones as he transitioned peacefully into eternal rest. He will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery with Deacon Bryan Istre officiating the services.
Evans was a resident of Kaplan, Louisiana where he was loved by many. He was a hardworking man; over the many years he was employed with Exxon where he traveled to many places before retiring. Evans was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin.
Evans was born on September 22, 1948 to the union of the late Freddie Saltzman, Sr. and Inez Guidry Saltzman.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Nell Saltzman of Kaplan; son, Chad Saltzman (Carolyn) of Terrytown, LA; daughters, Lynnell Hanemann (Chris) of Marrero, Christina Saltzman, and Amanda Saltzman Ragas (Cedric) of Kaplan; step-son, Nakia Broussard (Karen) of Tampa, FL; siblings, Evelyn Guidry, Ethel Pyles, Brenda Wade, and Freddie Saltzman, Jr.; half-sister, Amanda Dartez (Doug); sisters-in-law, Tammy Hebert (Robert), Tina Touchet (James), and Stephanie Broussard; brother-in-law, Brian Broussard (Priscilla);grandchildren, Ami Francis (Daniel), Andrew Saltzman, Kerri Meyers, Toiya Ragas, Cedlyn Ragas, Kirasten Ragas, and Cadence Ourso; step grandchildren, Alyssa Broussard, Aiden Broussard, and Emma Broussard; and great grandchildren, Sylas Williamson, Craig Parker III, and Logan Francis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie Saltzman, Sr. and former Inez Guidry; parents-in-law, Pervis and Mary Broussard; brother-in-law, Dean Broussard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 8:30 AM until the services at 10:00 AM.
