Gaulman J. Harrington Sr.

Funeral services officiated by Reverend Suresh Mathangi will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan honoring the life of Gaulman J. Harrington, Sr., 85, who passed away on September 11, 2026, at his residence in Abbeville. He will be laid to rest at St. Anne Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Rogers, Jacob Harrington Jr., Donald Paul Vincent, Kevin Harrington, Joseph Harrington, and Lawrence Vincent.

A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. The visitation will continue Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 8:00 AM until the services at 1:00 PM.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caregivers, VitalCaring Home Health of Lafayette, Acadian HomeCare of Abbeville, and Heart of Hospice of Lafayette. Also, a special thank you to Skyla Pilcher of Maurice and Ashley Hebert of Abbeville for his care as well.

Gaulman dedicated much of his life to farming, specializing in rice and soybean cultivation. He was known as a determined and skilled farmer. Throughout his years of farming, he not only cultivated crops but also instilled in his family and friends the values of hard work and resilience.

An avid hunter, Gaulman found joy and contentment in the great outdoors, cherishing moments spent in nature. He was often regarded as the smartest man by those who knew him, not solely for his knowledge, but for his wisdom about life and the world around him. He loved life to the fullest, enjoying every moment with loved ones.

He is survived by his children, Georgia Harrington of Kaplan, Jacob Harrington Sr. (Lisa) of Welsh, Ellitte Harrington of Abbeville, Louis Harrington Sr. (Chastity) of Abbeville, and Myine H. Derouen (Ashley) of Abbeville; his grandchildren, Joshua Rogers, Louis Harrington Jr., Jacob Harrington Jr. (Gabby), Joseph Harrington, and Kevin Harrington; his great grandchildren, Gia Harrington, Wrenlee Kate Stelly, Zoey Maturin, Sebastian Rogers, Mason Broussard, and Niyla Stelly; and his brother, George Harrington.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carroll Guidry Harrington; his two sons, Gaulman Harrington Jr., and Don Ray Harrington; his daughter, Brandy Harrington; his great grandson, Branson Michael Taylor; his parents, Sava Harrington and the former Olivia Hargrave; his siblings, Lewis, Amy, Helen, Simon, and Sava Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
