Gerald J. Ryder

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on March 12, 2026 at 2:00 PM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Gueydan, Louisiana. He will be laid to rest at Hanks Cemetery in Morse, Louisiana. Reverend Fr. Stephen Irudayasamy will officiate the services.

A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Gueydan on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 9:00 AM until 1:45 PM when the procession will depart for the Church.

After more than a year of health challenges, Gerald passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 6, 2026 at the Gueydan Memorial Guest Home. Prior to his stay in Gueydan, Gerald lived in Morse, Louisiana for over 50 years.

Gerald is the son of Dores Ryder, Sr. and his wife, the former Florence Derouen.

He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda and her husband, Larry Thibodeaux, Iris and her husband, Burt Suire; one son, Bryan Ryder and his wife, Veronica; ten grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren; three brothers, Dores Ryder, Jr. and his wife, Sarrita, Glyn Foreman, and his wife, Altha, Ricky Foreman, and his wife, Rhonda; and one sister, Cheryl Floyd.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beatrice (Touchet); his daughter, Colleen (Ryder) Hebert, and her husband, Stephen; one brother, Kermit Ryder, and his wife, Jean; one sister-in-law, Arlene Foreman; and one brother-in-law, Rodney Floyd.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to the staff of Gueydan Memorial Guest Home and St. Joseph Hospice, who treated Gerald as family.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to St. Joseph Hospice (Lafayette), a charity of your choice, or to have Masses said on his behalf.
