A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Reverend Stephen S. Irudayasamy will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, September 25, 2026 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Hazel Schexnider Marceaux, 88, who passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Pitery Family Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Marceaux, Robbie Marceaux, Tyler Demette, Lane Demette, Dylan Touchet, and Troy Schexnider. Honorary pallbearers will be Jordan Lemaire, Matthew Lemaire, Cade Marceaux, Brent Sonnier, Kenneth Hargrave, Ellis Schexnider, Mark Marceaux, and Jacob Marceaux. 

A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan on Thursday, September 24, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. The visitation will continue Friday, September 25, 2026 from 8:00 AM until the procession departs for the church at 12:45 PM. 

Hazel was a devout Catholic, and her faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and laughter. She will be remembered for her kindness, her strong spirit, and her unwavering love for her family. 

She is survived by her two sons, Lovelese Marceaux and his wife, Claire; Keith Marceaux and his wife, Sedra; two daughters, Patricia M. Lemaire and her husband, Don; and Susan M. Hebert and her husband, Chris; nine grandchildren, Heather Frederick, Melanie Duhon, Chris L. Hebert II, Tyler Demette, Cade and Keisha Marceaux; Jordan, Kristen, and Matthew Lemaire; six great grandchildren, Chloe and Sophia Duhon; Lane, Braxton, Reese, and JonKeith Demette; and numerous, nieces, nephews, and godchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Marceaux; parents, Lucien Schexnider and the former Noemie Suire; five siblings, Lovenia and her husband, Allen Mire; Hilda and her husband, Roy Saltzman; Lena and her husband, Wilson Hargrave; Noah Schexnider and his wife, the former Shirley Marceaux; and Linda and her companion, Preston Miguez, Sr.; three infant siblings; and one granddaughter, Brooke Demette.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the family and friends who have offered their prayers and support during this difficult time, as well as to the caregivers and Hospice of Acadiana for their compassionate care.
