Janis Mayeux Harrington

A Graveside Service officiated by Reverend Suresh Mathangi will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, October 4, 2025, at St. Anne Cemetery honoring the life of Janis Mayeux Harrington, 93, who passed away peacefully at her home on September 29, 2025, surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren.

Janis was born in Plaucheville to Emeric and Nelda Mayeux. After moving to LeCompte, her family owned and operated Mayeux Grocery Store for many years. Janis was an alumna of St. Mary Dominican College in New Orleans. For over four decades, Janis and her husband Roland owned Harrington Flying Service while raising their two daughters, Stella and Denise. As a lifelong lover of knowledge, Janis returned to her career in education at the age of 52, she then retired after 18 years.

She is survived by her two daughters, Stella L. Harrington and Denise M. Harrington; and her two grandchildren, David S. Little and Camille L. Harrington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland J. Harrington; her parents, Emeric and Nelda Mayeux; and her sister, Emily Jeansonne.
