A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Reverend Mikel Polson will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, September 14, 2026, at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Jannell B. Meaux, 91, who passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Cemetery, in Leroy.
A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM. The visitation will continue Monday, September 14, 2026, from 9:00 AM until the procession departs for the church at 1:10 PM.
Surrounded by her family, Jannell passed away as gracefully and gently as she lived her life. Her children were blessed to give her the same love and care that she poured into their entire lives. Jannell met the love of her life, Dunice “T-Lee” Meaux at a young age at Meaux School. As the story goes, “it all began with a wink.” They celebrated 70 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2023. Jannell’s life and legacy was the LOVE of her husband and their family.
Jannell enjoyed gardening and loved to share her crops with everyone. She found great peace and tranquility in nature. Being a farmer’s wife, she was fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom allowing her time to travel and attend her children’s sporting events. She cooked and delivered many farm crew plate lunches during the farming years. She was an active member of the Meaux Country Daisies for several years.
Jannell was a woman of faith and instilled the importance of faith into their children. Her pleasant demeanor and selfless way could be felt by everyone she met. She never wavered in supporting her large and beautiful family, unconditionally. Her welcoming home always provided fulfilment of your appetite and soul.
She is survived by three sons, Joey Meaux (Maria), Jerome Meaux (Gretchen) and Wendall Meaux (Karen) all of Meaux; five daughters, Claudette Comeaux (Tab) of Maurice, Carla Meaux, Donna Meaux (Angi), Natalie Latiolais (Chris) and Aimee Herpin (Shay) all of Meaux; one daughter-in-law, Sandra Meaux of Meaux; one brother, Presley Broussard (Anna) of Meaux; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dunice Lee Meaux; one son, Gary Lee Meaux; one grandson, Garrett Baudoin; her parents, Claude Broussard and the former Effie Broussard; three sisters, Rosa Hartman, Delta Touchet and Ella Mae Harrington and five brothers, Loland, Dunice, Pervis, Alvin and Kenneth Broussard.
Special thanks of appreciation to her care team; Dr. Micheal Alexander, Dr. Molly Thomas, NP Mareesa Mathers and the staff of Hospice of Acadiana.
