Johnnie Rhea Vaughn

ABBEVILLE - A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, August 11, 2025, at Vincent Funeral Home – Abbeville, honoring the life of Johnnie Rhea Vaughn, 87, who passed away on August 6, 2025. Sebee Jean (Sugar) Hymel will officiate the funeral service. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Colby Vaughn, Landon Linden, Christopher Vaughn, Dustin Vaughn, Johnathon Vaughn & Hunter LeJeune.

A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. Saint Charles St., Abbeville, on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 9:30 AM until the time of services.

Johnnie was born on August 12, 1937, in Bunkie, LA. and was the third of seven children. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, who enjoyed sewing, quilting, and cooking for her friends and family. She enjoyed canning fruits & vegetables, making jellies and playing cards, especially when all of the sisters got together. Her presence will surely be missed by all.

She is survived by her daughter, Desiree M. Vaughn, four sons, Rusty Vaughn (Sandy), Scotty Vaughn (Diana), Dennie Vaughn (Stephanie), and Derrick Vaughn; brother, Danny Sandifer (Pam); and sister, Deborah L. Shelton; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Doely Ruston Vaughn; parents, Dennie Sandifer and the former Alma Slade; three sons, Darwin Vaughn, Ricky Vaughn, and Douglas Vaughn; brother, Ronald Wayne Sandifer; three sisters, Roxie Sandifer, Jean Cotten, and Peggy Cedatol; and brother-in-law, J.C. Shelton.
