Funeral services officiated by Deacon Bryan Istre will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan honoring the life of Joseph Wilson Babineaux "Piggy", 87, who passed away on January 18, 2026. He will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Joseph enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with ARCO Oil & Gas, where he was a valued member of their seismograph crew. His contributions not only shaped his professional life but also left a lasting impact on his colleagues and friends. He was known for his unwavering work ethic. Outside of his professional life, Joseph enjoyed the simple pleasures of fishing and hunting.
A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. The visitation will continue Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 8:00 AM until the services at 10:00 AM.
He is survived by his four children; JoEtta Bourgoyne and her husband Thomas of Jena, LA; Janeen Shewmake of Higgins, MS; Felix Babineaux and his wife Alice of Liberal, KS; Margo Babineaux and her husband Jeff Svihlik of LaFollette, TN; his brother Paul Babineaux of Kaplan, LA; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and, his loving friend Lurnice Trahan of Lake Charles, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents Loston and Eunice (nee Manceaux) Babineaux; sister Jeanette B. Ladewig; and, brother John C. Babineaux.
