Memorial services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, July 11, 2026, for Joseph F. “Joey JoJo” Sloan, Jr., 69, who passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at his residence in Abbeville, LA. Services will be held at Revive Church, 1631 S. State St., Abbeville, LA, and officiated by Pastor Chris Rose. The family will receive family and friends from 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 11, 2026, until the time of the services. An additional memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Williams Funeral Home, with family and friends received beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Hickory Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 67525 LA Highway 41, Pearl River, LA 70452.
Joey was born on October 8, 1956, in New Orleans, LA. Joey loved going to Amy’s regularly to play cards and shoot pool, and eating at the Quartermaster Deli with Josh.
Joey is survived by his mother, Theresa Norma Broussard Sloan; five children, Joseph F. Sloan III, Starlet M. Sloan, Joshua M. Sloan, Jonathan M. Sloan, and Amy N. Sloan; grandchildren, Hayley Montgomery, Kevin Chaisson, Brendin Montgomery, Madelynn, Christian Montgomery, Jaden Sloan, Madeline Sloan, Jacob Sloan, Xzavier Sloan, and Lovelyn Kitzman; great-grandchildren, Kevin and Karsen Chaisson, Rowen Montgomery, and Cash Sloan’ siblings, John H. Sloan, Deborah A. Sloan Benz and her husband Steve, Kim Marie Sloan, and Joan Marie Sloan; along with several nieces and nephews.
Joey is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Frank Sloan Sr.; brother, Kevin Martin Sloan; nephew, John Howard Sloan, Jr.; maternal grandparents, Johnnie and Genvieve Broussard; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Elma Sloan; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family would like to thank Jennifer Lott, longtime friend and caregiver, for the last six years. To Butch and Linda Wright, he loved to watch Western Movies and eat popcorn. To the Revive Church Family for making Joe feel so loved, especially Sharon Guidry. To Robert and Brad for always looking after Joe. Special thanks to Debbie for making sure his fingernails, toenails, and hair were always cut; he enjoyed that. Also, to John and Kim for all the extra help they provided. To Vital Care Staff, especially Terri RN, Shalaya NA, Julie RN, Lisa RN, Jen RN, and Erin RN.
