Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth D. Trahan, 82, of Kaplan, LA. He passed away peacefully on November 4, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Abbeville on December 14, 1943, to Otto and Enez Bell Trahan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on November 11, 2026, at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kaplan. A Rite of Committal and final interment will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery, with Reverend Stephen S. Irudayasamy officiating the services.Pallbearer for the service will be his nephew, Kimble "Kim" Trahan. Honorary pallbearers will be his cousin, Glenray Trahan, his good friend, Ravis Menard, his brother-in-law, Johnny Faulk, and his great-nephew, Auston Trahan. Lector will be his great-niece, Ashlyn T. Broussard. Gift bearers will be his goddaughter, Brooke M. Stelly, and his niece, Fran F. Trahan.

Kenneth grew up in a farming family, with generations of farmers before him. His love for agriculture and the land was always in his blood. After graduating from Kaplan High School, Kenneth enlisted in the National Guard. Once his service obligation was served, he was honorably discharged. He then began working for the Louisiana Department of Agriculture, but Kenneth's heart -always remained on the farm. He went back to his roots and began his farming career with his family in 1974. He was a dedicated rice and crawfish farmer for over forty years until his retirement in 2015. His genuine spirit and guidance touched everyone he worked with. Beyond his farming life, Kenneth enjoyed his time with his family, spoiling his dog Oscar, camping, fishing, horse racing, and his morning coffee with friends. He left behind a trail of laughter, quick-witted comebacks, and stories that will be retold for years to come. His passing has left a tremendous void in the hearts of his wife, family, and friends.

Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Diana Lormand Trahan; his sister, Kattie Trahan Faulk (Johnny), of Kaplan; his nephew, Kimble "Kim" Trahan (Angela) of Maurice, whom he cherished like a son. He is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Enez B. Trahan; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hubert Lormand Sr. and Olympe B. Lormand; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Hubert Lormand Jr. and Phyllis G. Lormand.

Diana would like to acknowledge her deepest gratitude to Kenneth's nephew, Kim, for his constant love and care given to Kenneth throughout his life and on the farm, but especially over the last several years. Your tireless efforts, compassion, and presence bought great joy and peace to Kenneth's final years, months, and days.

His family gives their profound appreciation to Mary and Richard "Smitty" Smith and Sandra Menard for their time, support, and selfless acts of kindness.

Kenneth's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the compassionate and loving care given to Kenneth over these last several months to; his caregivers, Malinda, Lea, and Lisa; Lamm Hospice and their staff; his hospice nurse, April; Lamm Home Health; and Dr. Lahasky and his office staff.

All funeral arrangements are being conducted by Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan (337) 643-7276.
