Laura Mouton-Robinson

July 18, 1940 — June 9, 2021

Kaplan—With a look of determination and praise on her heart, Laura Mouton-Robinson took her last breath on June 9, 2021, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Metairie, LA, and entered eternal glory.  Her start on this earth began on July 18, 1940 in Lafayette, LA, born to the union of the late Dennis Mouton Sr. and Mable Cole Mouton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest at Shiloh Baptist Cemetery with Monsignor Ronald Broussard officiating and Reverend Mark Miley and Deacon Michael Taylor concelebrating the services.

Laura was known for her witty jokes, quick comebacks and infectious personality.  Her presence lit up a room, wherever she went.  Her presence will be missed by many.

Laura joined the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court 118, where she held the position of Outer Guard.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory four sons, Conrad Mouton of Portland Oregon, Lawrence Delton Julien, Cyril Julien and Willie Robinson Jr., all of Kaplan, LA; her daughters, Mable Denise Julien-Taylor (Deacon Michael James Taylor) of Metairie, LA and Evelyn Despania of Houston, TX; her three sisters, Mary Henderson of Katy, TX, Elder Roy (Jay) of Delcambre, LA and Connie Mouton of Abbeville, LA; 25 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 35 great-great grandchildren; four great- great- great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Robinson, Sr.; parents, Dennis Mouton, Sr. and Mable Cole Mouton; one son, Marcus Alonzo Julien; one daughter, Willie Mae Breaux; one sister, Pearl Vallery; two brothers, Dennis Mouton, Jr. and Charles Mouton; one grandson, Raymond Despania, Jr.; and two granddaughters, Patricia Despania and Della Breaux.

Before she transitioned, she said often “Don’t worry about me and don’t cry for me.”  Even though we might shed a tear here and there, we don’t have to cry long, because we know now, she is resting in eternal peace.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 600 N. Church Avenue, on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 8:00 AM until the time of the services at 11:00 AM with a rosary being prayed at 9:00 AM.
