Margie Humble Dorcheus

November 24, 1933 — March 5, 2024

Gueydan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Margie Humble Dorcheus, 90, who died Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at her home. She will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Mark Miley officiating the services.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home in Gueydan, 311 Fourth St., on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 8:00 AM until the procession departs for church at 9:45 AM.

A dedicated project manager, Margie approached her endeavors with precision and passion. From making her rounds around the farm to overseeing various other projects, she demonstrated a remarkable ability to turn dreams into reality. Margie’s meticulous nature extended to her beautifully manicured yard, a reflection of her appreciation for the aesthetics of nature.

One of her simple joys in life were seeing butterflies. She always marveled at their grace and beauty. And no tribute would be complete without mentioning her favorite spot: Don’s Seafood. It was a place where she shared laughter, stories, and delicious meals with family and friends.

Family was the core of her existence. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren lovingly called her “Moo,” a name by which many others came to know her. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, creating cherished memories that will forever live in their hearts.

She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Laseter of Abbeville; two grandchildren, Ria Laseter of Gueydan and Royce Laseter (Abbey) of Gueydan; three great-grandchildren, Amiee, Lola, and Julianne Laseter; her two stepsons, Robert “Bobby” Dorcheus (Elaine), and Steve Dorcheus (Isabel); and four step-grandchildren, Lauren, Marissa, Bob, and Eric.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dorcheus; her son, Mark Marceaux; her parents, Eldridge Humble and the former Marie Vondenstein; her sister, Sally Hall; her brother, Sonny Humble; and her step-daughter, Nancy Dorcheus.
