Cow Island—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June  8, 2024 at St. Anne Catholic Church honoring the life of Mary L. Broussard, 88, who died Wednesday, June 5, 2024. She will be laid to rest at St. Anne Cemetery with Fr. Glenn Meaux officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Jared Hebert, Cedric Hebert, Tyler Touchet, Jace Hebert, Brody Trahan, and Grant Trahan. Honorary pallbearers will be Kane Hebert, Hayes Touchet, Nakia Broussard, Aidan Broussard, Kaden Touchet, Trevor Touchet, and Koah Touchet.

In loving memory of Mary Broussard, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who touched the lives of many with her kind heart and unwavering dedication. As a beloved bus driver, she served her community with a smile, ensuring the safe passage of countless students and passengers throughout the years.

Mary had a unique gift for bringing people together through food. Her kitchen was always filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals, and she found immense joy in feeding those she loved. Her hospitality extended far beyond her family, as she welcomed friends and neighbors with open arms and a generous spirit.

A lover of nature, Mary found beauty in the delicate wings of butterflies. Their grace and transformation mirrored her own gentle and nurturing soul. She cherished the moments spent outdoors, surrounded by the fluttering symbols of hope and renewal.

Family was the cornerstone of Mary's life. She delighted in every moment shared with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Her love and wisdom were the guiding light for her family, and her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift them.

As we remember Mary, let us celebrate a life filled with love, service, and the simple joys of nature and family. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, carried forward by the warmth of her love and the beauty of her legacy. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the butterflies she adored.

She is survived by her son, Brian Broussard (Priscilla) of Forked Island; four daughters, Nell Saltzman (E.J.) of Kaplan, Tammy Hebert (Robert) of Forked Island, Stephanie Broussard of Forked Island, and Tina Touchet (James) of Kaplan; 11 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pervis Broussard; one son, Dean Broussard; her great-grandson, Landon Trahan; her parents, Edgar Lee, Sr. and the former Odile Lege; her sister, Henrietta Bodin; her brothers, Edgar Lee, Jr., and Harold Lee; and her son-in-law, Thomas Touchet.

Visiting hours will be observed at Vincent Funeral Home in Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 12:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM.

The family would like to offer thanks to Hospice of Acadiana and to her caretaker, Lacey Becker, as well as another thank you to Brandy Broussard for crafting such heartfelt words in her memory.
