Mary Felice Mayard

ABBEVILLE- A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Mary Felice Mayard, 68, who died on September 4, 2025, will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 300 Pere Megret St., Abbeville. The Mass will be on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be prayed in the church at 10:00 a.m. before the mass.

Mary Felice lived her life fully, surrounded by her friends and family. She was a member of the Lay Carmelite Community at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. After retiring from more than 30 years of teaching in Vermilion Parish, she spent most of her time in her gardens with her husband, Joe. Mary Felice enjoyed traveling, reading, photography, and nightly Wordle games with her daughter, Theresa, while sitting with her cat, Josephine.

Mary Felice is survived by her husband of 46 years, Joseph W. Mayard; daughter, Theresa Rose Mayard; brothers, Richard Meaux, Pat Meaux, and James Meaux; sisters-in-law, Christine Theriot and Mary “Bun” Breaux; and her cousins, nieces, and nephews, whom she loved so much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nilze Meaux and Rose T Meaux; aunt, Angeline Girolamo; uncles, Peter Tomasello and Michael Tomasello; godmother, Margaret Girolamo Bood; brothers-in-law, Bob Theriot and Harry Hollier; sister-in-law, Sue Alice Hollier; mother-in-law, Wilda V. Mayard; and father-in-law, Raywood Mayard.

Following the mass, Mary Felice will be laid to rest near her parents in St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery in Abbeville.
